Always In Flux

During my September, 2016 show, Grains of Salt, I set out to break the barrier between gallery and studio by creating a wall installation. As explored by William Kentridge in his Six Drawing Lessons, the studio is a place of exploration of change. Building on a postcard from Grains of Salt, I began painting the phrase "always in flux" on the wall. I started with very little plan in mind, and let the work develop intuitively. I finished on the morning of the final day of the show, and per the gallery rules, painted back over the piece to return the walls to their characteristic gallery white.
